How many girls do we serve and how many volunteers are involved?

We have over 3700 girls who participate in Girl Scouting and about 1200 adult volunteers (women and men) help to provide the Girl Scout program in our community.



How long have we been in existence?

On March 12, 1912, Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. in Savannah, Georgia. The Girl Scout Council of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, as we know it today, officially began October 1, 2007.



What do girls do in Girl Scouting?

Whether it's camping, learning to operate a computer or volunteering, girls in Girl Scouting learn new skills, develop values and build self-confidence. Through Girl Scouting, girls find many new worlds to explore, while working in partnership with caring adults.



What kind of girl programs are available?

More than ever, services offered by Girl Scouts are critical in a community that cares about the healthy development of all young people. To meet the needs of girls and young women in our community, the Girl Scout Council of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys offers programs in the following areas:

  • Science and Technology Skill Development
  • Leadership Development & Community Service Opportunities
  • Community Outreach programs
  • Enrichment Opportunities



What is our annual budget?

GSCRT's annual budget is over $2 million. Support for the council is provided by corporate, foundation and individual donations, program fees, United Way and community support through the annual Girl Scout Cookie sale and fall product sale.



How much does is cost to be a Girl Scout?

Annual national membership dues are $10 per girl. None of those monies go directly to fund local services provided by the Council to serve the 4,200 girls in our community.
